We learn from Izacke's "Memorials of Exeter" (pp. 162, 184, 186) that John Pym, Merchant, was Steward of the City in 1653; that by an order of Privy Council, in the third year of James II., 1687, he was appointed one of the Common Council, and in 1688 he was made receiver of the Corporation funds. |
