: Currency, George III (Copper): (1771-1775)
O | Laureate bust of George III right, wearing a cuirass. The wreath shows 9 leaves and 3 berries and is tied with a riband which has 2 long loose ends extending behind the neck. Armor on the right shoulder consists of a shoulder strap with 6 scales and 5 plates below. Across his breast is a strap connecting the shoulder straps and below it are 3 rows of scales with a central boss. Incomplete, toothed border. Legend broken between GEORGIVS and III. |

R | Britannia seated left on globe, her right hand extended, holding a spray of leaves, her left hand raised and grasping a spear which rests in the crook of her arm and extends down to rest on the exergue line. Resting against her left side is an ornamented oval shield bearing the combined crosses of St George and St Andrew. The legend is interrupted between the Ns by the head and spear. Double exergue line with 1771 below, line consists of a thin line above a thicker line which does not extend beyond the base of the figure of Britannia. |
